Some weekend plans require a group chat, a reservation and considerable negotiation. This one starts with choosing a day: Whiskey Acres has food-and-music pairings scheduled for October 9–11 at 11504 Keslinger Road in DeKalb.
The three dates offer different combinations, so you can choose an evening out or leave Sunday afternoon open for a shorter visit. Here is the useful part: who is playing, who is feeding you and when the two overlap.
Friday: start the weekend with blues and a food truck
Friday’s listing pairs Willard Wilcox with Teddy D’s Gourmet Grill from 5–8 p.m. on October 9. The organizer describes Wilcox as a singer-songwriter with blues and alternative influences.
That makes Friday a straightforward after-work choice: meet friends at the distillery and leave the dinner decision to the truck’s available menu.
Saturday: pizza and a lively set
Saturday’s pairing brings Jack Wiemeler and Chuck’s Wood Fired Pizza from 5–8 p.m. on October 10. Whiskey Acres describes Wiemeler’s acoustic-electric duo as playing rock, blues and country.
Choose this one if pizza sounds like an easier answer than coordinating a sit-down dinner. It is a separate outing from downtown’s Homecoming activities, so decide which plan you want to make your evening’s anchor.
Sunday: lunch first, music afterward
Sunday’s schedule lists Uncle Cam’s Sandwiches from 2–5 p.m., with John Till playing 3–5 p.m. on October 11. Arrive around two if food comes first; three is the start to remember for the performance.
The organizer describes Till’s music as country-influenced blues. Sunday's staggered schedule gives you room to eat before the set rather than arriving as everything wraps up.
Make it a distillery visit, too
The visitor FAQ lists Friday hours of 4:30–8:30 p.m., Saturday hours of 1:30–8:30 p.m. and Sunday hours of 1:30–5:30 p.m. Tours are listed at $12.50, with a 45-minute walkthrough, three tastings and a souvenir glass.
Tour times are Friday at six, Saturday at two, four and six, and Sunday at two. Arrive at least 15 minutes early; the distillery requests advance notice for groups of eight or more.
Those tour details are separate from the music-and-food listings. The event pages do not specify a music cover charge or food and drink prices, so check directly before budgeting for the outing.
Use the current calendar before leaving in case the lineup changes. All listed times are Central; schedules were checked October 4. |
